 Post Doctoral Position in Bioinformatics

SGX is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapeutics.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Post Doctoral researcher to join our Bioinformatics team.

 The candidate will perform original basic research in structural bioinformatics, especially as it pertains to high-throughput structural biology. The successful candidate will be involved in domain prediction and selection of expression construct boundaries and will develop computational tools to automate the construct design process. Additional development may involve prediction of protein solubility or crystallization propensity. The candidate will have access to a comprehensive Laboratory Information Management System (SGX-LIMS) for data mining. Candidates with experience in protein crystallography will have opportunities to solve and refine novel structures.

Requirements:

A PhD in Computational or Structural Biology or a related field with a strong understanding of sequence/structure relationships; proficient programming skills and a first-author publication in the area of bioinformatics or structural biology. Knowledge of Perl or Python and SQL is highly desirable. Experience in machine learning methods is a plus.

 Expectations:

• Appointee must be eligible for employment in the U.S.

• Appointment duration: Up to 2½  years, funded largely through the NIH Protein Structure Initiative.

• Post Doctoral appointees are eligible for company health benefits.
